Increasing trend of NPAs calls for restructuring of corporate debts, which sholud be carried out in a timely and cost effective manner. CDR mechanism, SICA and SARFAESI have contributed to some extent in restructuring debts. CDR schemes should aimat making a corporate financially viable and not managing the books of the lenders temporarily. Co-operation of the borrowers is equally essential.
